Edinburgh Castle is a world famous icon of Scotland and the most popular attraction in Edinburgh, with its history dating from 12th century when this fortress was erected atop an extinct vocalno for military use. The Castle has a complicated building history, from St Margaret’s Chapel, the oldest part of the Castle, to the Crown Square, the very hear of the Castle completed by the early 1500s, and to the Scottish National War Museum, initiated after the First World War.
